Cause and Effect

Updated: Aug 9, 2024

Humor me if you will, and let's go back to a reading comprehension lesson on "cause and effect" relationships. If you remember when you learning to comprehend and interpret what you were reading about in grade school, the same method holds true when reading and interpreting God's Word - your Bible. This age-old lesson can really help you see what God is speaking to you. Let's take a look at an example and break it down. I will use one of all time favorite verses to help illustrate this method. "Trust in and rely confidently on the Lord with all your heart and do not rely on your own insight and understanding. In all your ways know and acknowledge and recognize Him, and He will make your paths straight and smooth [removing obstacles that block your way]."

(Prov. 3:5-6, Amplified Bible)

CAUSE: (my job) EFFECT: (His job)

Trust in the Lord with ALL,not partial, my heart.

HE WILL MAKE MY PATHS STRAIGHT AND SMOOTH.

Rely on Him and not myself.

ALL of my heart is involved.

Know Him.

Acknowledge Him.

Recognize Him.

In ALL my ways ways means everything I think, say, or do.

It's all about Him and not me.

Sisters, I pray this will get your attention and help you as you are reading and soaking in the Word. Please note there will always be causes and then the effects in this life according to our actions and choices. The only way to remain mindful of God's Word is to know what He has said. For the Effect to take place, your continued growth, and maturity as a Christian, comes only with time spent in the Word. Cause = dive on in and the effect = come out refreshed.

Lord, may I realize that because of what I do or don't do will effect the outcome. I pray that I will be obedient and then trust You for the outcome. I need to learn more from You, so I thank You for Your Word to guide me. In Jesus' Name. Amen.
