Glimpses of God

"If you seek He will be found by you." (I Chron. 28:9)

Have you ever thought about looking for God in your life each day? How do you see Him?

I will share with you how my eyes were opened to see Him every day. I began to to really take notice of God each and every day by making closer observations of my surroundings. This then prompted me to keep a journal of all the sightings or glimpses of God each day. As I began to fill up the pages of my journal, it occurred to me that these are not only glimpses of God, but these are gifts from Him. I then began to count all of these as blessings from God. Soon I was hooked, and could not wait to look around His creation for more glimpses of Him everywhere I went.

The following are just a few notes from my journal that I will share with you:

*The last quarter moon in the night sky, aka, "God's thumbnail" (as I tell my grandchildren)

*The colors in the sky as it awakens a new day (one day He painted it pink, my favorite color)

*A gentle breeze on a sunny, warm day

*The sun peeking through on a cloudy day

*The sun by day (good morning, Father; the moon by night, good night, Father)

*The sun rising in the new, morning sky

*The new bloom on a flower

*The smell of rain

*A new birth of a calf, or colt in the pasture

*A bird singing his song in the early morning announcing a new day

*A baby bird peeking over the nest waiting for its meal from mama

*A butterfly fluttering among the flowers

*Birds flittering in the bird bath

*A hummingbird hovering around the feeder

*The beautiful blue color of the sky

*The freshness of spring

*The fresh green of the grass and trees

*Wildflowers showing off their colorful beauty in a field

*A shooting star in the night sky

*The sound of thunder and flashes of lightening during a rain storm

*The raindrops on the window pane

*A lightening bug on a warm evening

Oh, how I could share more, but as you can see for yourself this is quite an extensive list, and I got a little carried away. But the thrill of seeing God in the little things, or in the ordinary things I hadn't bothered to notice before, now makes me eager to see more of Him. He is truly everywhere - in the big things as well as the small things; in the ordinary and in the extra-ordinary. I have now learned to stop and look for Him in everything, everywhere I go. When I spend time with Him in His word, He speaks to me, He teaches me so I can see Him more clearly as my Father, my Creator, my Teacher, and my Savior.

My sisters, God is omnipresent - His hand is everywhere you look. Take notice of what He has prepared for you today. As you go throughout your day today, and from now on, I encourage you to look for glimpses of God. You will soon begin to not only look for Him, but you will begin to see Him everywhere and in everything. Enjoy your observations and encounters with God; be sure to count them as blessings directly from Him.

"And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who seek Him" (Heb. 11:6, esv)

"You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart" Jer. 29:13, esv)

Father, God. We come humbly before You as the Creator of the universe. We bow in awe of all You have set before us as glimpses of You and Your glory. You are truly omnipotent and omnipresent! Teach us to slow down to see You every day and every where. Thank You for Your love, mercy, grace, and presence. We are in awe of You. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
