God's Doors

"Ask and keep on asking and it will be given to you; seek and keep on seeking and you will find; knock and keep on knocking and the door will be opened to you" (Matt. 7:7, Amp).
As I was patiently waiting for elevators doors to open to lift me to the upper floor, knowing later I would also wait for the doors to open to move me back to the ground floor, I began to think about how God opens and closes doors in our lives.
Have you ever tried to open a door that seemed stuck? Or maybe you misplaced your key and can't open the door in front of you so you stare at it and tug aimlessly trying to pry it open. I once even locked my keys in the car with it running! Any of this sound familiar?
You have probably heard the age old saying, "God can open doors no one else can shut and shut doors none else can open." We must see that God is never limited by our current situations, positions, or the closed doors in front of us. He is after all the Master Locksmith! We must learn to trust in His timing of opening and closing doors. No matter how large or small the door may seem, lean on and trust in God. Execute your faith and develop it even larger as you wait on the Lord to open another door for you.
“When the time is right, I the Lord will make it happen” (Is. 60:22).
We have no way of knowing what lies on the other side of a door. We may think we know what lies beyond and that we need to go through a particular door. But we must dwell on the fact that we are not on God's calendar, nor are we on His clock. Believe that in His will, His way, His timing, for His purpose, to bring Him ultimate glory, doors will open or close on your behalf.
"God began doing a good work in you, and I am sure he will continue it until it is finished when Jesus Christ comes again" (Phil. 1:6, NCV).
So, maybe we need to stop banging on closed doors and wait for God to open the one for us to walk through. Remember that He goes before us, beside us, above us, behind us, and below us to keep us steady. Be prepared to walk with Jesus wherever you go and whatever doors you may approach. If it is His will He will open it, if not be prepared to stop and wait for Him to open another door. Don't go at it alone. Relax, breathe, and keep on seeking the Great Locksmith!
Father, we honor and praise You for the opening and closing of doors in our lives. Give us the wisdom to truly know when to go through a closed or open door. Only You know what lies beyond, and we place our trust in You to show us which door is best for us. We love You and respect the fact that You alone are the Master Locksmith in our lives that holds the key to the door of Your kingdom. May our faith increase, Father. May the doors we choose honor and bless You. In Jesus' Name. Amen.
