Heart Exam

Updated: May 22, 2024

Recently, I ran into a friend of mine that I had not seen in quite some time. As we hugged one another, I was surprised to see that she had a rather large scar that ran across her neck and into her upper chest. An attempt to camouflage the scar was made by wearing a large piece of gaudy jewelry. As she noticed my curious glance, she began to explain that she had been faced with an unexpected and unplanned open-heart surgical procedure. During the surgery, the surgeon actually held her heart in his hands to make the necessary repairs. I was left in awe of her explanation of the intricate surgery.

When God examines the hearts of His children, What do you think He must see? What repairs need to be made? He is the Great Physician that holds our hearts in His hands to examine, test, and conduct spiritual surgery when necessary. He can remove what doesn't belong there: negativity, bitterness, envy, selfishness, unfaithfulness, regret, strife, cunning motives, etc.. Oh so much unhealthy junk! He gently and intricately removes, repairs, and completely changes one's heart.

We sign consent forms before surgical procedures to allow physicians and medical teams to treat, remove, repair, or whatever may be necessary to be healthy, or when emergent, to aid in a survival moment. "Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me and know my anxious thoughts; And see if there be any hurtful way in me, and lead me in the everlasting way" (Ps. 139:23-24).

Have you consented to allow the greatest Physician and His Team of Three (the Three in One Team) to work on your heart? Let the repairs and replacement procedure begin!

Now you will be immediately restored and hahabilitated. The recovery time is immediate! Your now beautiful, clean heart will overflow with His genuine goodness to be seen by all. The major replacement part is now embedded permanently, that crucial life-saving part is Jesus Christ. He will remain there to produce kindness, love, and service to others. The replacement and repair will be so life-changing that others will see Jesus in and through you. You will now know that your life is all about Him, who reigns in your heart. All the other parts that do not belong there will be gone forever; be cautious and take care not to let the diseases creep back in. Stay heart healthy.

"Now that you have purified yourselves by obeying the truth so that you have sincere love for each other, love one another deeply, from the heart" (I Pet. 1:22).

Focus on the thought that He holds your heart in His mighty hands and can transform it for His glory. Enjoy your new heart and live harmonious within His will. Your new heart will be in sync with the rhythm of Jesus as He lives and works in you to bring glory to the Father.

Father, as You hold our hearts in Your hands, Lord, make them new, fresh, and clean. Open the eyes of our hearts, Father, so we may see all that You have for us. Strengthen our hearts in the love of Christ. Thank You for Your tender love, mercy, and care for us. In Christ, Amen.
