"Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me" (Ps. 23:4, NIV).
As a child, I felt great comfort when snuggling with my favorite doll or being hugged by my parents or grandparents. And while the doll and the hugs offered comfort, it was temporary and lasted only until the next challenge came along to bruise my confidence or interrupt my feeling of security.
As a parent and now a grandparent, I adore giving those comforting hugs to my loved ones, especially those grands. I am a hugger, but I also need those comforting hugs from others as well. Hugs just make everyone feel better. I strive to be a source of comfort to others in need, but that too is temporary. Life's circumstances happen to us all everyday.
"So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand" (Is. 41:10, ESV).
That's why God's presence in our lives is the everlasting comfort we need. He will bring comfort and peace in the most uncomfortable or challenging situations you may face. When you can find comfort in no one person or thing, He's there with open arms. Envision His strong, loving arms encircling and embracing you in everlasting comfort. Oh, those hugs from the Abba, Father!
Feel the love of God as you grow closer to Him in your relationship with Him. The more time you spend with Him you learn how faithful, strong, and true His care for you really is. This will also allow you to feel the security in His outstretched, open arms. You are so loved and adored by our heavenly Father, allow Him to provide the comfort and peace you may be seeking from His loving, peaceful arms.
"Just as I was [present] with Moses, so will I be with you; I will not fail you or abandon you"
(Josh. 1:5b, Amp).
"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous! Do not be terrified or dismayed (intimidated), for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go” (Josh. 1:9, Amp).
Draw us ever nearer to You, Lord, so that we will know the fullness of Your love, comfort, and peace. Thank You for the strength of Your loving arms that You embrace us with each day. In You we have hope and security. We give ourselves to You wholeheartedly, Father. In Jesus' mighty name, Amen.
