Our Portion

ree

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; His mercies never come to an end they are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness. “The Lord is my portion,” says my soul, “therefore I will hope in Him” (Lamentations 3:22-24, ESV).

The word portion is defined by the word master Webster as: an individual's part or share of something such as a share received by gift or inheritance; a part of a whole; a fraction, an allotted part or belonging to a person or a group. In the Bible, the word portion is used synonymously with the word inheritance.

Let's dive in to make this a new word for us to think about:

*God is truly our provision for every aspect in life.

*He is the ultimate blessing of our lives.

*He has given us an inheritance and a heavenly home.

*God fulfills our every need, far beyond material possessions; He is our truest resource.

*He has prepared us to receive His inheritance as His children.

Now let's see how we can practically apply this concept of 'portion' to our lives:

  1. Making the Lord our portion grants a lasting sense of peace and security that does not hinge on our circumstances.

  2. When God is the center of our everything, worldly successes, accomplishments, and even possessions are redefined. When we pursue His kingdom, it shapes our attitudes toward relationships, work, service, and uses of our resources.

  3. Intentionally and consistently exercising our trust concerning contentment through God's strength. (See Phil. 4:11-13)

  4. Recognizing God as our portion fosters a deeper devotion to worship to Him. This truth of love and gratitude provides an avenue to consistent prayer, Bible reading, fellowship, and even truer acts of service.

  5. Allow for growth in our knowledge of Him and see our faith become even more mature.

May God truly be our portion in this earthly life. May He become our truest source of joy, happiness, and blessing. Nothing should be more important to us than the promises of God. Open your heart to God's portion for you today!

"My flesh and my heart may fail, But God is the rock and strength of my heart and my portion forever" (Ps. 73:26, Amp).

"Lord, you alone are my portion, my cup of blessing. You guard all that is mine" (Ps 16:5).

Father God, we humbly thank You for being the very portion of our lives. May we think about

every aspect of our lives with a fresh perspective of You and how you have provided for our every need. We adore You, Father. In Jesus Name, Amen.
