Rest Stop

Writer: Laurie KlimpleLaurie Klimple

Have you ever needed a rest stop? You have probably stopped at the infamous Buccees or yet another rest area when traveling. At times we may become weary, anxious, or just need to stop for a while to take a break.

Grace is a "rest word." Grace is a godly noun - Jesus! Actually, it can be considered a godly verb since we can see God's grace in action! May we stop running around, slow down, take a break, breathe deeply, and simply rest in the arms of God. Let Him do the rest; He loves you so much. Let that sink in. His love for you is like none you will ever know! When you are running on empty, let God fill you up with His grace and love. Your deepest needs and longing will only be met by an intimate relationship with the Father.

"See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know Him"

(1 John 3:1, NIV).

You cannot make God love you less. You cannot make Him love you more. He loves you no matter what! God's amazing love for us is never performance driven, it is always and only relationship based. God, our heavenly Father, and His amazing love for us is a constant truth. His grace is His caring for us. Won't you care enough to accept His unconditional love and allow your personal relationship with Him to flourish? Take a rest stop, my fellow sisters, and be filled with His rest and refreshment for your weary souls.

"The Lord is near to all who call upon Him, to all who call upon Him in truth" (Ps. 145:18, NASB).

Father, God, we praise Your Name and thank You for who You are! Thank You for your grace that we see in our lives. Thank You for the love that You so lavishly bless us with. Thank You for a love so deep that we were worth dying for. May we rest in Your loving arms and become refreshed and renewed in our relationship with You. In Jesus' precious Name, Amen.
