"The heartfelt and persistent prayer of a righteous man (believer) can accomplish much [when put into action and made effective by God—it is dynamic and can have tremendous power]." (James 5:16b)
Have you ever pondered the distance between heaven and earth? Well, the distance is shorter than you've ever imagined. On the very day the feet of Jesus touched the earth, the distance dramatically shrunk. Jesus is our bridge connecting the road between God and us. The way to keep the road of Christ open is through the lifeline of prayer, our avenue of communication with the Father.
Let's look at some interesting facts about the speed of communication: The speed light travels 186,000 miles per second or 299,792 meters per second; the internet speeds range from10-25mbps (NASA uses 91gbps); and some other internet resources can travel at 1,000 -5,000 MBS. Text messages are transmitted as electromagnetic radiation microwave frequencies, so they travel at light speed and can be received in just six seconds. With all that information overload, let's just focus on how quickly and efficiently our prayers can travel and be received. The moment you start praying you are present in the throne room of the Almighty. Through a simple prayer in the name of Jesus, you are transported into the presence of God in that very instant. Think about this, a prayer can span the distance between heaven and earth faster than any text message you could send. When we pray, our prayers allow the grace of God to flow into the world around us. God often reveals Himself through our prayers. One of the biggest blessings is not only the privilege to communicate with the Father, but to offer up prayers on the behalf of others. Never underestimate the power of prayer. You can change your world through prayer. Communicate to God through prayer and see how He responds. Never give up, keep on praying, prayer changes things. It has been said that things are happening when you pray even if you don't see them right away. Be persistent in prayer and cherish the time with God as you commune with Him. Prayer can lighten any load you may bear as you bond closer with the Father.
"Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you" (1 Thes. 5:16-18, ESV).
Father God, as we approach your throne, we bring honor, praise, and thanksgiving to You. We are honored to be in Your presence and to present our prayers to You. Thank You for our bridge, Jesus Christ, and it's in His very Name we pray, Amen.
