As I was getting in my car to leave for work one morning, I noticed the Morning Glories growing on the fence in front of me. The beauty and the color stopped me in my tracks. They reminded me of God's glory this very morning. Morning Glories are known to grow and vine up along whatever they can attach themselves to. The flowers open in the mornings as they receive the light and close up in the evenings when they aren't receiving the light. Because it's a new day and the sun had just risen to provide light, the flowers eagerly opened up to show the beauty and the glory of a new and promising day. This simple flower opened up to show off the glory and vibrancy of its designed nature. Like these flowers, we respond to the Light as well. After all our designed nature is to worship and glorify God.
"Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the LORD has risen upon you"
(Is. 60:1ESV).
What exactly does glory mean? According to Webster's dictionary, it is defined as: worshipful praise, honor, and thanksgiving; exaltation; great beauty and splendor; magnificence.
We can see evidence of God's glory in our lives, in nature, and in everyday occurrences. We read of His glory in His word. We see and know of God's glory, but how do we bring glory to Him?
Here are 10 scriptural ways we can glorify our Heavenly Father:
Praise with your lips. (Ps. 63:3)
Obey His word. (Mal. 2:2; Jer. 7:23)
Pray in the name of Jesus. (John 14:13) - Align our prayers and desires with God's.
Produce spiritual fruit. (John 14:13; Gal. 5:22-23)
Remain pure. (I. Cor 6:18-20; Phil. 4:8)
Seek good for others. (I Cor. 10:31)
Give generously. (II Cor 9:13)
Live honorably among nonbelievers. (I Pet. 2:12)
Be faithful whenever... (I Pet. 4:16)
Face the day with courage - you are a conqueror. (Phil. 1:21)
Sisters, I encourage you to give glory to God in every way this very day!
Father, we give You all the glory! We praise and adore You for all that You have done and continue to do for us, Your children. Thank you and we glorify You for Jesus, our Savior! In His beloved Name, Amen.
