To Fade or not to Fade

ree

"The grass withers, the flower fades, But the word of our God stands forever" (Is. 40:8 Amp).

What a sweet, precious moment in my life, as a grandmother, when my young grandchild presents me with a bunch of freshly picked wildflowers they have gathered just for me. The little grubby hand clenching the disarrayed bouquet of assorted wildflowers they handpicked, with a precious smile upon their face, so proud of their deed, imprints a memory in my heart and on my mind forever. The sad thing is that in just a day's time the flowers are wilted and faded. The bouquet is thrown out, but the memory will last a lifetime.

This illustration reminds me of God's Word. Bibles get covered with dust, pages torn, faded, and worn out. But God's Word stands forever and should imprint fresh truths on our minds, in our hearts, and within our souls forever. The word of God will never fade, wilt, or wither as long as we keep it fresh in our lives every day. I urge you to open God's word today and every day; create a daily habit of being in it. Read it, soak in it, and listen as God speaks to you through it. Share your favorite scriptures with others. What a precious gift God has given to us, His word! Don't let the word of God fade from your life.

Father God, thank You for Your word. We praise You for how You reveal Yourself and Your truths to us through Your word. May we keep Your word from fading from our lives by establishing a daily routine of being in it. Father, imprint Your word on our hearts forever. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
