True Love

" You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul (life), and with all your mind (thought, understanding), and with all your strength. This is the second: ‘You shall [unselfishly] love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these” (Mark 12:30-31, Amp).

Well it is the Hallmark season of movies that always seem to have the same story line of romance and true love with a happy ever-after ending. So, what exactly is true love? Is it a feeling, an emotion, a happenstance, a choice, or an obligation? Let's see how God's Word describes love. First and foremost the biblical definition of love is God! John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life."

1 John 4:16  "We have come to know [by personal observation and experience], and have believed [with deep, consistent faith] the love which God has for us. God is love, and the one who abides in love abides in God, and God abides continually in Him."

1 John 4:8 "The one who does not love has not become acquainted with God [does not and never did know Him], for God is love. [He is the originator of love, and it is an enduring attribute of His nature.]By this the love of God was displayed in us, in that God has sent His [One and] only begotten Son [the One who is truly unique, the only One of His kind] into the world so that we might live through Him."

The Word of God is packed full of verses about love and they all center around who God is. Let's visualize for a moment. There is a vertical love with God, and horizontal love for others, as these lines intersect, you got it, they make a cross! What a visual! That's true, unconditional love!

God demonstrated His great love for us in action at the cross. For others to experience this amazing love, we who have truly experienced and accepted this love, must spread it around and demonstrate it by our actions. We must display it all over our everyday lives for others to see and to yearn for this kind of love. May they see it clearly through our personal experience and relationship with God.

God freely gave all, His Son - a part of Himself and His heart, to save all! That is true, real, unconditional love! You are so greatly adored, He doesn't want you to be left out or left behind. God freely gave the most precious gift His most prized possession, a part of Himself to save You not to judge or condemn you. He freely gave, now it's your free choice to believe in, decide to trust in, and accept Him as Lord and Savior of your life. Eternal joy with the Lord in His presence forever or face eternal condemnation and separation forever with no way back. Choice... count the cost, it's not worth the loss of the free gift God gave all to save all - yes, you (See John 3:16-18). That's true love!

Pass the love on today to someone who may be missing true love in their life. It's a free gift with no refunds or exchanges. God is truly love!

"But God clearly shows and proves His own love for us, by the fact that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us" (Rom. 5:8, Amp).

Father, Your love for us is so great and unfathomable. You are the source of true, real love. Thank You for demonstrating Your love for us by sending Jesus to the cross for us. May we reflect each day on the depth of Your love for us. Thank You, Jesus, for Your true act of real love that You freely gave to each one of us. In Your name we pray, Amen.
