What Time Is It?

Updated: Oct 25

"There’s an opportune time to do things, a right time for everything on the earth" (Eccl. 3:1,The Message).

We question time quite frequently on a regular basis throughout each day. We check our watches or our phones see what the time is. How much time do we need to get from point A to point B in our lives? We all have the same twenty-four hours, but what do we actually spend our time doing? Are we: working, conducting business, doing chores, running errands, scheduling or fulfilling appointments, or chasing children...? Are we involved in just plain old busyness, absorbed on our phones, or even idleness...? Again I ask, what are we actually doing with all of our time? Do we schedule time for resting, visiting with others, or in building relationships...? These are questions we really should spend some of our time thinking about.

Maybe we should reevaluate our time and check our schedules to make sure we are making time for God, the creator of time. Our earthly clocks, calendars, and schedules mean nothing to God; after all, He is the creator of time. "...A day is like a thousand years to the Lord, and a thousand years is like a day" (2 Pet. 3:8, NLT).

“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” declares the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways And My thoughts higher than your thoughts" (Is. 55:8-9, Amp).

Here is a list of even bigger questions: Do we spend quiet time with God? Are we spending time in prayer? Are we scheduling time to be in His Word? Are we growing in our faith? Are we involved in some type of discipleship? Do we even make time to focus on our personal relationship with the Father?

Time is a gift from God to be used wisely and purposefully. The time is right this present moment, it's the perfect time for spiritual growth. What are you waiting for? Let's make the most of our time with and for the Lord our God.

"So teach us to number our days, That we may gain a heart of wisdom" (Ps. 90:12, NKJV).

Heavenly Father, We love and adore You. Thank You for the gift of time that You so meticulously created for Your purpose. Forgive us for wasting and abusing time not well spent. May we focus on You and use our time more effectively for Your glory. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
