What to Wear?

^"For all of you who were baptized into Christ [into a spiritual union with the Christ, the Anointed] have clothed yourselves with Christ [that is, you have taken on His characteristics and values]" (Gal.3:27, Amp).

What to wear is a common challenge we as women face quite frequently. We mix and match different outfits, we change clothes several times, or we just go buy something new to wear. Some women gauge their outfit by whatever they are feeling or whatever mood they may be in on a particular day. But what should we be wearing? How should we be clothed? What is the most important outfit of all that we should be wearing daily? Let's dive into some scripture for some spiritual fashion tips:

^* "But clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ and make no provision for [nor even think about gratifying] the flesh in regard to its improper desires" (Rom. 13:14, Amp). We are told to clothe ourselves with Jesus and not to make any provisions or even think about gratifying our flesh that could lead to improper desires. Instead of focusing so much on our outer appearance and all the latest fashion trends, we should be focusing on how we are clothed and fashioned in Christ. This is truly the only outfit we should be concerned about. As we reflect Jesus and beam radiantly in our spiritual attire, we could prompt others to want to be clothed in Him also.

*"and put on the new self [the regenerated and renewed nature], created in God’s image, [godlike] in the righteousness and holiness of the truth [living in a way that expresses to God your gratitude for your salvation]" (Eph. 4:24, Amp). It is brought to our attention here in these words that we are not only clothed in Christ, but we are to put on the new self, our new nature, created in God's image! We should wear God's image proudly with gratitude for this is the most valuable outfit we could ever possess. A new self, may you style it and wear it with honor reflecting our Lord and Savior!

*"and having put on the new [spiritual] self who is being continually renewed in true knowledge in the image of Him who created the new self" (Col. 3:10, Amp). When you put on the new self that is being continually renewed in the true knowledge in Christ's image by the one and only Creator and Designer, you are now properly dressed and ready to show the world whose you are. You will always have something new to wear and never have to question what to wear again. Your new self is looking amazing just like Christ!

*"So, as God’s own chosen people, who are holy [set apart, sanctified for His purpose] and well-beloved [by God Himself], put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience [which has the power to endure whatever injustice or unpleasantness comes, with good temper];" (Col. 3:12, Amp). We were chosen as His own, made holy, and set apart for His purpose. We are His beloved, so He has provided all the accessories to go along with our clothing: a compassionate heart, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. These accessories go with the outfit of which we are to be clothed in each and every day.

What you are now wearing will never make you look fat, frumpy, or out of style. You will always look fabulous, spiritually clothed and united with Christ. Head up, chest out, smile in place as you walk out confidently clothed wearing the outfit and the accessories that He has adorned upon you to reflect His Light! Won't you put on Christ today and not fret about what you are to wear?

Father, we adore You and thank You for adorning and clothing us in Christ. May we reflect Jesus in every way as we go through each day. Thank You for all of the blessings that You bestow so richly upon us. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
