Without Doubt

What does doubt actually mean? Doubt is defined as a feeling of uncertainty or a lack of conviction; to consider questionable or unlikely; hesitant to believe.

I suppose there are certain things, situations, or even people we hold doubt over for various reasons. Doubt can be brought on from insecurities or negative experiences in our lives. It's even possible to develop doubt in ourselves.

Do you find yourself being a skeptic, constantly questioning or even unbelieving? Let's see what God's word provides for us: "Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.  But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. Such a person is double-minded and unstable in all they do." (James 1:2-8, NIV). James illustrates that faith and doubt are not in agreement. Faith keeps us believing even in the midst of doubt. We must turn our doubts over to Jesus, the Author and Perfecter of our faith. "Fixing our eyes on Jesus, the Author and Perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God" (Heb. 12:2, NASB).

Never doubt who God is or what He is capable of. Never doubt who you are in Christ, and never doubt His love for you. Start trusting God with the "hard stuff", knowing He will take care of you even when it doesn't seem possible. He is your Rock - your one true constant through it all, no matter what you are walking through at this moment.  "At the right time, I, the Lord, will make it happen” (Is. 60:22b, NLT).

Surrender, pray, and don't forget to praise. Ask God to help you through today only. After all we don't get re-dos in this life, and we aren't promised tomorrow. All we have is today, so take it step-by-step in faith without doubt knowing whose you are. Know without a doubt that He is working all things out even when you can't see it yet. God is the only One who truly knows it all, so submit to His will, His way, and His timing. No doubt whatever you are experiencing, God is large and in charge. Your faithful obedience will conquer any doubts you may be harboring. Look up without doubt!

"And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to His purpose for them" (Rom. 8:28, NLT).

Father, forgive our doubts and constant questioning. Help us, with pure hearts, to see without doubt that You are our Provider. You always have our best interest in Your hands. Forgive us for dragging out the process of learning what You are so patiently trying to teach us through our trials and tests. May we look up and focus on You without any doubt, Father. We love You and we can see in Your word that You really are working all things out. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
