"For You formed my inward parts; You wove me in my mother’s womb.
I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
Wonderful are Your works, And my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from You, When I was made in secret, And skillfully wrought in the depths of the earth" (Ps. 139: 13-15, NASB).
There are many people that spend a lot of time looking in the mirror at themselves. Some are quite vain, some are quite critical, and others are like "ehh - good enough".
A mirror works by reflecting light that hits it, creating an image of what's in front of it. You were created to reflect a Light that creates a new image of what's in front of you! Do you stop to realize that God created you the way you are supposed to be and look? He created every detail of your uniqueness. With loving care He wove you together: your personality, your giftedness, your traits, your talents, and of course your physical features. Think about how He loves variety and you are a part of that variety and creativity. You are absolutely precious to God. He values you. You are beautiful to Him, He made you!
God has filled you with adequate potential to accomplish many things. He smiles at you, His creation, and says you are good. Check your heart before God, He loves your heart that has been cleansed with His forgiveness and covered with His righteousness. May your heart long to know, honor, and obey Him.
When you look in the mirror may you not gaze at yourself in vanity or criticism, but realize what you see is truly a reflection of Jesus. When you look at yourself may you also see someone that Jesus loves and a soul so precious to Him. Also, make this true of other people you encounter and gaze upon - a soul waiting to reflect Jesus. Don't hesitate to share Jesus' reflection in you with them.
May your eyes be filled with God's magnificent face and your heart full of His wonderful love. Go today and be a true reflection of Christ in you. You are truly beautiful.
Father, Thank you for creating us in Your image. May we truly be a reflection of Jesus for You. May we shine brightly for others to see Your perfect love. May we accept ourselves as You created us to be. Use us to shine Jesus' Light for all to see that are waiting in the shadows. We love You. In honor of Jesus, we pray in His precious name, Amen.
